Details about the position:
Position: User Interface Engineer
Location: Bangalore
Requisites:
- Any Graduate or Post graduate with relevant 5+ years of experience
- Proven experience creating web-based user interfaces
- Experience with web applications (not just web sites)
- Solid development experience with XHTML, CSS, JSPs and JavaScript
- Experience in developing AJAX based interfaces/components using standard frameworks (e.g. jQuery)
- Understanding and experience with software engineering processes and principles, particularly in an agile development life cycle
- Understanding of and experience integrating with J2EE server-side technologies (e.g. Servlets) within the Eclipse SDE
- Understanding of UI unit testing tools (e.g. jUnit, Selenium)
- Understanding of HMI and general UI design issues
- Image manipulation skills (Photoshop, Gimp)
- Familiarity with web-development tools (e.g. Firebug, Web Developer Toolbar)
- Strong knowledge of W3C standards
- Strong knowledge of cross browser, usability and accessibility design issues
- Experience in code optimization and refactoring
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Strong knowledge of development design patterns and Model-View-Controller principles
Responsibilities:
- Create and maintain a library of useful XHTML / CSS / JavaScript code. Also reusable UI widgets using JSP, Velocity, J2EE Custom Tag Libraries
- Design, write and unit test new software
- Strong knowledge and skills in Javascript, especially as a first level language
- Convert initial user interface prototypes and concepts into functioning Web-based prototypes for interface testing and evaluation
- Convert prototypes into robust and scalable components, templates and pages
- Engage with the server-side core engineering team to facilitate the MVC-principled engineering methodology and to agree on the application interface which allows the two parts of the application to interoperate correctly
- Maintain systems by monitoring, identifying and correcting software defects
- Assist Quality Assurance, Operations and Client Operation teams as required
- Participate in the user centered research and design process
- Responsible for the quality of Aconex software by contributing to test plans and writing automated unit tests
- Proactively contribute to ongoing process improvement
- Problem-solve and think laterally as part of a team, or individually, to meet the needs of the project

I have been working in the construction industry since last year, the pay scale is great if you are qualified enough. I worked as a junior developer for Procore, did well and learned a lot from the experience of my seniors.
